Our mission:

• To provide a free library of praise and worship song translations.
• To provide a place for songwriters and translators to publish their songs.
• To stop the same song from being translated many times.
• To provide a method of developing a standard preferred translation for each song.
• To promote collaboration as an important method of reaching a standard translation.
• To promote and encourage good practice in song translation.
• To encourage a greater sharing of resources between churches and denominations.

If you have ever visited different churches or attended conferences or large meetings in the same (non-english speaking) country, you’ll probably know the feeling of singing a song at the top of your voice when others around you seem to be singing something else. Or, if you’re a worship leader visiting another church and receiving strange looks when you reach the chorus of the latest popular worship song and wondering why, then it’s probably because you have learned a different version of the song. The same song is often translated multiple times simply because of the difficulties in making others aware of a translation.  Before you know it, one nation has 5 or 6 versions of the same song, some good, some bad, but all different, and no-one knows which one is being sung where.  This problem of worship song translation is fundamentally a communication problem between individuals, churches and denominations.  1worship.org provides a practical and modern solution to this problem.

1worship.org operates independently of any denomination and committed to staying that way.  Rather it is inter-denominational, with contributers from different churches and denominations.
