Reviewing and Commenting

Comments are a very important feature of this site.  We encourage you to make comments when a new translation is posted, so that the translation can be refined. We also recognise that comments can be potentially damaging to people, so commenting should be done with great care.

STEP 1

READ THE RULES – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

STEP 2

Only registered users can comment, so please make sure you have registerd and signed in

STEP 3

Read the following:

When reviewing a song translation, please try to consider the following points:

  • How well does the translation capture the feel of the original song?
  • Does the translation sound “translated” or does it sound natural?
  • When sung, how much does the melody need to change (when comparing to the original) in order to sing the song naturally in the new language?
  • Does the translation follow correct biblical doctrine?

YES: Please encourage the poster for doing a good job.

NO: Please offer your comments and suggestions – be constructive!  Only offer criticism if you can also suggest an improvement.

When posting comments, please also consider the following:

  • Some people are more experienced at translating songs than others
  • Some people have a greater understanding of biblical doctrine than others
  • Some people are very protective about their work, and with good reason – they are the ones who took the time to do the translation. Please respect that.
  • A translation doesn’t always have to be direct, nor does it even need to follow the same topic as the original, though mostly this is preferred.

Important

If you know that the posted translation is not the work of the person who posted it, please report this to us immediately, and allow us to deal with it in the correct manner.  And please, whatever you do, don’t start a flaming war with the poster.
